People’s Corner

Culminating in Somerleyton Place, harnessing the spirit of the Brixton Uprisings and drawing upon the form of Speaker’s Corner ‘People’s Corner’ will become a space for discourse, discussion, and debate.

Launched in commemoration of Olive Morris’ 70th birthday, People’s Corner will centre
the voices of the community, within the heart of the community.

People’s Corner has commissioned local artist Linett Kamala and female street artists at WOM Collective to transform the walls. Having worked with local girls’ schools, imagery includes a mural of Olive Morris. The mural has a prominent smiling Olive, poems and words which come to mind when thinking about this incredible activist., as well as words and speeches by local Brixton women.
