The Mending room took place from the 10th of April to the 5th of June, facilitated by creative Tony Cealy. Selected Brixton residents took place in a set of 10 workshops over 10 weeks facilitated with the central discussion focusing on how to mend back Brixton.
Themes varied around young people, access to housing and employment and better relationships between young people and the police. At the end of the programme participants created some objects through speculative design and presented these at a ‘Jury Exhibition’
The event was constructed to respond to the provocations they had been working on over the 10 weeks. Stakeholders from the Council attended as well as public care organisations, social care organisations and community development workers.
